Pizza with the President has been a longtime favorite finals week activity. Although there will be no pizza party this year, our WSU community is raising money and awareness for the Warrior Food Cupboard. The Warrior Food Cupboard ensures that all students have access to quality food on a regular basis through supplemental nutrition assistance when they need it. The WSU Foundation will match every dollar raised towards our goal of $2,000 to ensure that that this vital mission continues. We know that the heightened needs of our students extend beyond the initial responses to the coronavirus pandemic. Please help us continue to provide vital nutrition assistance to our campus community by donating today and sharing this campaign with your networks. Food insecurity can lead to lower grades and poor physical and mental health. There are support services available on campus and in the Winona community for any student who needs help. If you are struggling to get enough to eat, or choosing to skip meals so you can afford your textbooks or other school-related costs, consider reaching out to wellness@winona.edu get access to the space. Why are donations necessary?
Food insecurity among the WSU community remains a pressing concern in the wake of COVID-19. The Warrior Cupboard’s doors remain open to ensure all students have access to enough food on a regular basis. More than 1,600 pounds of food were provided to students this fall, which is over 4x what was donated during the same period of 2019. We need your help to continue providing this vital service to our students. Our budget is supported entirely by donations and our pantry shelves are constantly being restocked. Monetary donations help us replenish our stocks of canned goods, nonperishable foods, healthy choices, and essential hygiene products.
