The Winona State Football Players Association (FPA) and WSU Foundation are proud to announce the Tom Sawyer Legacy Fund. This fund will honor Tom’s profound impact by providing scholarships to students pursuing dreams of playing college football and receiving a degree from WSU. Once endowed, these scholarships will be awarded in perpetuity. All money raised towards this scholarship directly benefits Warrior Football!
The WSU Football Players Association (FPA) has committed a dollar-for-dollar match of up to $50,000 for all donations received between today and Coach Sawyer’s last regular season game on Saturday, November 13. With your help, we hope to meet or exceed the match and present Coach Sawyer with a check for not less than $100,000 at halftime of the game. Every dollar raised will help add to a sizeable endowment to help provide additional Warrior football scholarships in perpetuity.

Personal Message
As the Warriors return to play this fall, Tom Sawyer begins his 26th and final year as Head Coach of the Winona State University Warrior Football Program. Throughout his career, Coach Sawyer (’83, ’89) has achieved a win-loss record of 190-85 (.691) and leads one of the winningest NCAA Division II football programs. Tom’s successes extend well beyond the field and impact everyone around him. In addition to his role as coach, he also serves as a mentor and leader to students, fans, and friends of Warrior Nation.
Why are donations necessary?
Your gift supports student-athletes competing at the highest levels in NSIC and NCAA Division 2 athletics. This scholarship will help make a WSU education more affordable as well as help recruit talented students-athletes to Warrior Football.
